IMO - If you are in to canyon carving or riding at highway speed in the curves get the Super Glide, the narrower triple tree's and wider front wheel setup is more forgiving in the corners. If you look at the superglide and plan to travel, may be worth a look at the Switchback which has the 103, narrow front and removable bags and windshield.
I wouldn't give up my wide glide, but agree with this analogy. I drag my pegs all the time in and around the twisties of San Diego. Super Glide's mid controls and steeper rake also ad to rider control and bike's abilities in the curves.
Won't hesitate to throw my detachable saddlebags and windshield on and go for a road trip. That's what's great about a dyna!
Just to clear up I'm a newish rider but have been on a sportster/metric for going on 2 years. I'm ready to move up and feel I've spent significant enough time with a smaller bike. As for price, at the dealership they're both 15,199. I asked specifically about the 103 and he said they have a super there that is 103 as well. He did not say it was a kit, I just assumed it was a stock option. Based on that it really comes down to looks and handling. I've got an opinion on looks, leaning towards wide glide, but if possible can people who've ridden both give more info on handling. I'm reading a lot of slight differences. Does one really handle noticeably different from the other? I went from a metric to a sporty and that was noticeable lol. I'm in Southern California so most of my trips are straight and not to twisty.
I've had both FXDX then a FXDWG. Superglide has narrow forks and more upright aggressive riding position. Wide Glide has wider raked out front end and a cruising riding position. Better bike, king of the Dyna's.
WG also better for 2 up.
I have both. An 08 Super Glide and an 11 WG. Both 96" engines. I could have got the '12 WG with the 103, but the '11 had some extras that I wanted for a little less. Plus, for $600 you can put the 103 cylinders on.
The Super Glide in my opinion rides a little nicer and it at slow speeds turn a little sharper. It is easier to ride then the Wide Glide.
With that said, I ride the WG EVERYWHERE, not just around town. Suits me just fine. The Super Glide my wife rides it everywhere. It is her first bike. You can't go wrong with either one. Depends really what looks good in your eye and what you want to throw down the cash on. Then it is all about spending more $$$$ to make it your own!
As others have said, you can't go wrong either way. The main difference is the additional rake of the Wide Glide front end. The other stuff (forward controls, 103" motor, 21" front wheel, black vs. chrome parts) can be added to the Super Glide, but its a lot of work to rake the front end.
I ended up getting a Super Glide and am very happy with it, but I added the forward controls and the narrow 21" front wheel. But I've got to admit I have a little bit of fork envy towards Wide Glide owners...

I have little experience with Dynas but subjectively they are both really good looking bikes. I think the super glides looks more classic and the wide glide looks more custom. Objectively speaking the wide glide does come stock with the 103 engine.
Wide glides are for people who ride around town, Superglides are for people who ride everywhere.
so if i only had a superglide i would have made it to Texas,Kansas and South Carolina, the only three states in the lower 48 my 07 wg hasn't been in.
btw the new wide glide should have been called something else. i like the bike but it aint a real wg.
