(My main point was "HERE WE GO AGAIN!") and here we are!
Yeah I got your point. It's hard to pick the right smiley for sarcasm.

Being a biker isn't so much about how you see yourself, but about how others see you. Course, if you're playing it up, you're more than likely going to come off like a poser.

If you really want to be a biker, I have two tips for you.

1) Be yourself.
2) Ride.

The only other thing that makes a difference is the level of acceptance. Some people do not want to be seen as bikers. Just riders. You know who they are. They have regulation haircuts, stay in motels, and use their bikes to go from A to B. Doesn't mean they don't ride them. On the contrary, people like that tend to rack up the miles. But, they never really separate themselves from the world.

Bikers, OTOH, seem to stay off the beaten path, stay outdoors, or away from the crowd, and generally avoid any contact with the normal citizenry. Not just when they're on the road, but normally. They don't seem to fit into any of society's molds, and they are making no effort to change. They're like outsiders. Should you aspire to be that? I don't know. I just am that way. Whether I have a bike or not. Always have been. It's hard to find like minded people, but you know it when you do. In school, we were the oddballs, the weirdos. Not really the frat boy type.

Seems like either or, whenever you find yourself in the wrong crowd, you stick out like a sore thumb. The only thing that unifies us is the love of the machine. That's why the lines sometimes blur. But you wouldn't associate with my friends, and I wouldn't associate with yours. Awkward is the only way to really describe it.

Jackass or not he has a point. Already said he was running 60 down the road...obviously road conditions are not prime to begin with.

It's meant as an insult, but I've been called worse by better.

Besides either dumb, dedicated or desperate, they were no doubt cold/numb/wet, but further, was this person a he/she and were they a 'biker', 'rider', 'motorcyclist' or 'enthusiast'...

I ride. I don't golf, fish, hunt, dance or play a musical instrument. I've ridden since I was 14 and got my old Whizzer. I'm 64 now. Am I a rider ? Whatever. I ride. That's it. Don't need a label. And I won't label you.
respects,

Yep. I check the weather before I ride. I ride for fun. And being cold and soaking wet isnt for me. So if that defines a "biker" then Im cool with not being one.
