I'm still wondering why some Harley riders love HD exculisivly. Having a favorite bike is only natural, but it seems like a lot of Harley riders hate every other kind of bike and the people that ride them.
Also I'm curious as to what you guys think is the best Harley ever made.
Here in ALabama most people pull for either Alabama Crimson Tide, or Auburn Tigers. I hear statements like this one all the time.....
"Who you pulling for this weekend?"
"Oh, Alabama and whoever is playing Auburn"
That falls in line with people who only like Chevy, or only like Ford.
I have discovered that I can live and be freindly with all these people. My best riding buddy has a Kaw Vulcan. Its a really nice bike. I will ride with him anytime and he knows I will not look down on him. He and I both used to race Kawasaki years ago.
I buy Harley because it is still "mostly" American. Thats probably the main reason.
Second, I believe that HD makes a good product. Sure, some of the rice burners are good bikes. But I just like my Harley and I do know that there are a lot of people who ride Jap that would have bought a Harley if they would have had the money.
The best Harley ever made is the one in the picture below! The one I"m riding -LOL
I myself don't care what people ride, just as long as they ride. But, there is something I was wondering today. Why do people go out and buy metric cruisers, then take all the badges off of them? I have seen more and more of this lately. Then today, a Honda VTX passed me while I was in my cage, and I had noticed that he too, had taken all the Honda and VTX badges off. Then, when I caught up to him at the stop light, I noticed that he took a black sharpy and colored in the "HONDA" on the back of his seat (and didn't do a very good job of it either). WHY did he do this? In my opinion, you should ride what ever you like, and be proud of it. If it bothered him that much to be riding a Honda, why not just save up until he could buy a Harley and/or buy a cheap used metric to ride until he could afford a Harley? If you love Harleys, Hondas, Yamahas or ... then buy one, be proud, and get out and ride!
I was hooked by Harley when my step-Father got a 72 sportster. I was still a teen (19) and riding a Honda 500. I just loved that sportster and have wanted to own a Harley since then. Must just be a boy/guy thing. Sort of like wanting a Corvette. But I definitely don't hate all other brand bikes. I have ridden Honda and Suzuki when that's all I could afford. Now I have my Harley and I really enjoy it. Some of my friends ride other brands and thats just fine with me......I'm happy....they're happy. Nothing wrong with that. Just ride!
Also, while I am not saying there are none out there, because I am sure there are, but I have never met a Harley rider who hates every other kind of bike and the people that ride them. If you are running into this, maybe you need to find some better Harley guys to hang around, and there are plenty of GREAT ones out there!
its not that I hate all other bikes but the truth about me is that I only like American made cars and bikes. And when it comes to american made bikes there is realy only HD yes there are tons of custom bike shops that come with custom price tags. I'll ride any kind of american made bike indian, bule, HD as long as its American I'll drive it. Same thing with my cars. It will be a very cold day in hell before you see me driving something that came from japan.
I gave reasonable answers in the yanked thread. Now I'm actually starting to think you're trolling. The use of the phrase seems like a lot of Harley riders hate every other kind of bike and the people that ride them. is rank BS.
I've been riding for over 30 years, basically all on HD, with a Norton thrown in for a short trip to the Dark Side. I don't think I can remember more than maybe 5 guys in all that time who actually hated other bikes and their riders. And in probably all those cases, the dudes were seriously messed up one way or another.
For whatever reason, you're starting to sound like a broken record. Give it a rest and move on. If you want a recap of the whys of HD loyalty, PM me.
