Default Heated Gloves - Too hot

The snow finally melted and the salt washed away, so today was my first opportunity to try out my new heated gloves and jacket. I have the HD "Y" splitter ($10) to that connects to the jacket connector and the glove connector. I do not have the dual control thermostat ($110). Anyway, after about a mile, I could tell that the gloves were getting way to hot. I was in heavy traffic, so it too a bit before it was safe to to look down to find the toggle switch to turn the power off. Both gloves were too hot where my thumb and index finger meet.

Has anyone else noticed this? I can't imagine that I installed the power incorrectly. It was just connect it to the positive post on the battery and ground it. I put in the correct fuse too.

Also, the jacket felt fine.

I had a pair of G3 that burned the back of my hand. I sent them back to Gerbings and they replaced them.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but aren't these things operating at maximum heat because you don't have a thermostat/rheostat?

I know it's crazy how much this heated gear costs...but have been using the gloves and jacket liner with a dual variable controller this winter.

If I had them on the same circuit...one of them is going to be too cold or the other too hot.

OK, Ok. I'll get the thermostat. The spending on this bike never ends!
