Also ride a 09 Low Rider, so I know that taking your windshield off won't cure your problem. I have a 18" quick release compact windshield that I run when I'm on the highway for extended periods, for me it makes all the difference in the world.
Like some have said you're gonna catch some wind no matter what you do. And whoever said a windshield doesn't belong on a Low Rider has probably never ridden one 800 mi in one day.

That was me, and no, I haven't ridden one 800 miles in one day. But I rode a 1980 Low Rider 650 miles in one day. And it did not have a shield on it.

I totally agree that the LR looks much better without a windshield but the added comfort is worth it. My hats off to you for riding 650 mi in a day without a shield, you must be an animal.
OP @ 70yrs young how many 650-800 mile rides do you make? Im 59 and will not do more than 400 and thats with MANY stops for ( hydration). You live in LV, there must be a ton of open roads that dont require you to cruise at 70+. Put your feet up on those pegs and RELAX.
yesterday, I had to make a 3 hr ride into 30-40 mph heavy gusting wind riding about 70 mph. When I'd meet an 18 wheeler coming downwind at me, I'd brace for quite a jolt of wind...but the bike feels steady. I wouldn't crowd the gravel shoulder too much though as I believe a good gust could push you over a couple of steps.
