I have an 09 Dyna Low Rider that I thoroughly enjoy except for when it comes time to ride on the interstate. It does real well until I get up around 65 or so and then the wind turbulence makes it unbearable to ride. I switched out the windshield that came with the bike for a larger one and I cant say it actually helped out any. Maybe a little. I've been thinking of buying a fairing but hate to drop the $500 only to find out it didn't help any. If anyone has any suggestions I would sure appreciate them.
What, specifically, is happening? Is it buffeting your head, or your whole body. Is it a firm side to side movement, or a harsh, random movement? How are you sitting on the bike?
Hard to know from your initial post but on mine, riding with out a windshield and wearing a HD full face helmet, it was unbearable. I changed to a Schuberth helmet and I can ride as fast as I want and I don't feel ANY buffeting. On a long trip I will occasionally use the HD detachable windshield and I have no issues. Prefer to ride without!
I used to have that issue, (07 FXD) I found the answer was not the windsheild nor was it a helmet. Problem turned out to be a lack of Horsepower for interstate riding.
At stock your only getting around 65 Horsepower. The lack of which seriously compermizes your confidence. Do a proper Stage 1 upgrade with Pipes, Chip, A/C, and Dyno Tune. And your Problem will disappear.
