and mikelikesbikes, yes my dad rides an 08 Softail Deluxe.

So far I really love this bike. Its comfortable as hell! Plenty of torque! And don't have to rev it to 6-7K to get it either! Just twist the throttle in any gear and you've got power, wind or no wind, up hill or down! And passengers don't ruin power. Thats what I love about the big twins.

Its got a nice deep sound to it with those pipes. Overall, its the perfect bike! Took it for a little cruise this morning. I think the taller handle bars will take a little getting used to handling wise, but I've heard these are comfortable for many by keeping then from slouching over.

But wow its quite a machine. The 5 speed is fine, another gear wouldn't hurt, if the tranny ever goes out I'll throw a 6 speed on, but the RPMs are low enough. It has a tach, and I GPSed the speedo is very accurate. I run at about 3K around 70 MPH. And as I accelerate the RPMS don't pick up quick either. A lot nicer than the 4.8K of the Shadow!

But its a beutiful bike, I'm glad I went H-D. Just has a that special feel to it that nothing else has! Its kind of a complete feeling! Don't get me wrong, Jap bikes are nice, and I plan to keep the Shadow and rebuild it and do something radical with it and customize it, but I love having an American bike! H-D is one of few major American companies left.

I'll keep y'all updated how it goes on long rides.

Yea I really love this bike. Its exactly what I need. Pleanty of power, cruises nice, sounds awesome, etc. The only thing I may do down the road is upgrade to a 6 speed, but for now its fine.

Hopefully I'll keep this bike for a long long time, hopefully forever! I mean with my future in farming and mechanics I'll never have a whole lot of cash to buy another bike, just enough to make a living. I'm gonna take real good care of this bike so it lasts that long!

I got my 08 dyna street bob with 6500 miles for 7600$. Had nice rims, windshield, extra lighting, bags, a hookup for heated gear...

You can find some awesome deals around if you look.

Sounds like you did real good. Reading your first post I was thinking a softail would be a good fit you you. If I was younger I'd still be riding a softail. Age has a way of changing your way of thinking. Enjoy your first HD.
