Got an email blast from one of the local dealers for a "special" on oem HD tires, says they are 50% off. Is it just like jewelry, etc where its marked up 200% and then they do 50% off ? Ive bought tires from JakeWilson.com for good prices. Curious if other dealers have done this and was it worth it ?
Only way to find out is go down there or call them and find out the price. It probably wouldn't hurt to check the date stamp and make sure they are not selling off old *** tires that have been sitting around forever.

It is exactly like that. A couple of years ago I was quoted 450.00 by the local dealer to replace my rear tire. And they wanted me to wait for two weeks for the privilege of doing so. My local indy did it for 230.00.

Its probably going to be something like that... Although, unless your dealer is 200mi away or has a cover charge for entry, you do't really stand to loose much by riding over there and seeing what the real deal is. IMO, I always go indy, hes got better prices on the best tires and mounting is cheap/quick.
One christmas i got stuck in TN one time with my metzler on the bands, dealership cut me a "deal" at $350 to put a dunlop on there. Said it wouldv'e been over $400 but he cut me a break because I needed it to get home
Worth the trip. Tire prices are listed in the catalog so you will know what half that is before you go. Do the homework though. Make sure the tires are fresh and unused. Dunlop site can help you identify date stamp if unsure of how. Also make sure you won't get hammered for the install. I had a front installed on the buy the tire here will install it for free at a dealer couple years ago. Kinda got shafted on some misc. charges but was still a lot cheaper than regular price so I was happy.
