Default Ram GPS mount

Installed my new Ram mount for my GPS. These mounts are pretty nice and very solid. Not something I will leave on all the time except when needed.

Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to get power to the device.

Any suggestions?

I have the RAM mount for iphone or Garmin Nuvi with the Kuryakyn Accessory Plug #1423, and the Fat Cat accessory kit. The 1423 was a snap to install, as I had a battery tender plug already installed. Very nice Farkle, heavy metal with chrome, well made, and the Fat Cat kit includes charger ports for most anything. Excellent 12 volt plug set up.

Do a search wire a HARD WIRE harness. Yank off the fuel tank and hard wire onto the battery and run the wire along the backbone of the bike. Should be a trough to lay the wire in.

I guess its time to unwrap that service manual and figure out how to remove the gas tank.

Check out this thread. Along with my solution, you'll find a couple more.

2009 Dyna Lowrider. Under the seat is a Deutsch plug with accessory connections. Picked up a hard wire power cord for my Garmin and connected to the accessory connection. Tucked the wire up alongside the gas tank and up to the Ram mount. Garmin now turns on and off with the ignition key.

I have a RAM mount also. I have the Battery Tender pigtail connected to the battery. I have a cigarette outlet that plugs into the pigtail and I plug the GPS into that. I had to duct tape the cigarette outlet and the GPS 12v cord together so they wouldn't come apart when riding.

Just route the wiring out of the way and use zip ties as needed.

Look the Powerlet Handlebar mounted outlets. I have the chrome one with the ball mount but they make black and chrome with or without the mounts.

I use a kuryakyn USB power source. You can hook two USB plugs at once.
