I would never sell it myself . It just is not worth the hear ache ? buyers e-mailing / calling / low balling . Then you get a buyer and he comes to your home to buy or steal . About five years ago close to my home a guy advertised a motorcycle for sale . Two guys called then showed up to buy . They shot the owner took the bike and got away . The owner of the bike died over a Motorcycle ? Bottom line you may invite trouble into your home .
10% is a bit much in this economy. You're selling a StreeGlide for 17K, you really wanna give a dealer $1700.00 to do something you could do yourself with a little effort? I would be willing to pay 5% if it weren't for Craig's.
What Dickey says............Some guys mentioned 20%, that's outrageous

You're right. Selling a bike isn't something you can do for yourself.
My friend did both. He let the dealer sell it on consignment and told them to do a 5K service while it was there since it had almost 6,000 miles on it. He paid them for the 5K service. They listed his 2011 Limited for $21,000. 5 months later they finally sold it for $18,000 so he got just over $16K. Then they called him saying they neglected to charge him for the oil and filter when he paid for the service so he had to go back and pay them another $48. LOL

I tried for six months to sell my 2011 VRSCDX with just under 2000 miles, looked just like it did the day it came off the show room floor.. finally decided to just trade it in, got $500.00 less for trade in than I was asking.. the dealer sold it the next day for a healthy proffit without doing anything to the bike..
Local shop sold my custom Fatboy, I told them what I wanted at the end and they made it work!
If they made more than 10% I didnt know and also didnt care, I wanted the money for my Road King, that was a too good a deal to miss, so could afford to take a small hit on my fatty!
