Default Sportster Odometer reading

Hi all.
Looking at a 99 Sportster. The odometer reads 033803. The seller says it's 33 hundred, not 33 thousand. He says the last digit is the one past the decimal, they just don't show the actual decimal point. Any input?

The bike is mint and I would have a hard time believing it has the higher number of kms. Just seems strange to me. I can always figure it out with a test drive.
Thanks

Is the last number a different background color? Or is it digital?

It was gold with black digits if I recall correctly. I honestly didn't notice if it was digital or not. I assume it was.

If the last digit is a different color than the rest of the digits, then he is right, it's the 1/10th counter. But yes, a test drive would remove all doubt if not.

Harley Davidson saves $0.0002 per bike by not putting the decimal point in, thus keeping Sportsters affordable for everybody.

Also, on the back side of the speedo is a rubber coated button. Push it in to see if it is on the odometer or trip-meter. I can't remember whether the odometer as the tenths spot or not, as I leave mine on the trip-meter to act as my fuel gauge.

All the HD digitals I've seen read only whole numbers on the odometer. They read 10ths but only in the trip mode.
