I am about to put a set of tools together for me to have on the bike at all times. I do not have side bags on the bike, all I have is a small leather tool pouch on the front. What tools are the must have tools that you guys keep with your bikes at all times? Im limited with space and want to put something together just in case. Thanks
First...
Make sure your fork tool bag doesn't hit your fender when your forks are fully compressed.
(the dent will really **** you off)
4-in-1 screwdriver
6"-8" crescent wrench
common torx bits (3/8" drive)
handful of common sockets
3/8" ratchet
2.5" extension
small led flashlight
small channel locks
a few wire ties
leatherman
Throw them all in the bag loose and they will fit better.
(they are going to rust, just so you know)
Thats a good list. The cell phone is the number one item to have with you if you break down. I had to get towed twice, once a throttle cable and the other time an electrical problem. The cell phone and my free towing saved me both times.
Plus a set of allen head sockets, three 3/8" combo wrenches, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16 combo wrenches, 12V air compressor and tire plugs. That is when I'm traveling light. When I tow my trailer behind me, I just throw the whole toolbox on!
Put a kit together that fits the accessible stuff on YOUR bike. It all depends on model. But most Harley's will need a set of Allen and Torx keys, a few specific box and open end wrenches, Ford wrench, 6-way screwdriver, needle-nosed pliers...
