Up too $1,575.99 and still hasn't reached the reserve. I'm thinking the dude doesn't really want to sell it and is just trying to get something to base a value on, maybe for insurance or some other reason.

He might just be hoping someone is dumb enough to out bid his friends/family's bids.
I could see a collector going after a hat owned by a historical icon of motorcycling past as a investment.
