Question Another Exhaust Wrap Question(s)

I'm looking to change the appearance of my bike a little. I still have stock pipes with Cycle Shack slip-ons & I was thinking of ditching the pipe covers & wrapping the down pipes with tan exhaust wrap. For reasons beyond my control, my PCs been chugging pretty slow lately, so I didn't bother looking for another exhaust wrap thread & wait 10yr for the page to load. I'm pretty sure I'm asking some of the most frequently asked Q's for EW, so forgive me in advance if this is your umpteenth time reading it:

1.) Do you wrap the EW from the very top of the down pipes near the engine between the exhaust clamps?
2.) Is exhaust wrap just "exhaust wrap" or do you really get what you pay for? Are there any brand-names that are popular/reliable/reasonably priced I should look for?
3.) Does anyone have any pics on a softail or dark colored bikes?

Once again; my apologies for any monotony experienced. All I can say is "thanks in advance."

Wrapping your exhaust pipes is a huge mistake. Most header manufacturers consider exhaust wraps to be their best friend, meaning you'll be buying lots of headers to replace the one your exhaust wrap has ruined. There is nothing that will damage a header faster than the use of a header wrap, other than attacking it with a hammer or shot gun. As advertised, these wraps do keep the majority of exhaust gas temperatures within the header. The result is the wraps will prohibit the header tubing from cooling properly. If you reduce the ability for headers to dissipate adequate heat properly, the result will be premature failure of the metal. Depending upon the application use and temperatures involved, the life can be reduced to only a few hours and in most cases header wraps will void any warranty. This is not just my opinion but the opinion of the best auto header manufacturer in the business, that would be Stahl Headers of York, Pennsylvania.
