I'm very big and very wide. No matter how I adjust the stock mirrors on my Road King I cannot see very well behind me unless I pull my elbows in and lean my head toward the mirror. Which isn't very practical and on curves not always possible.
Any reccommendations on some reasonably priced mirrors that would install using the existing mounts but add some additional span? Thinking either a wider mirror or slightly longer stem. I like the mirrors with turn indicators but I don't know how much work would be involved to connect them or if they are any better in terms of positioning.
I have the split vision mirrors also. They take a while to get used to and take time to adjust properly. Once you get ussed to them they're a big improvement over stock.
Funny you should mention this because I can sort of see behind me in my right mirror but not in my left one. It really gets me when a car shows up on my left, unexpectedly.
I tried the Split Vision Mirrors and didn't like them - took them back and bought H-D "Bullet" mirrors. Just sayin...........But to your question - H-D makes a stock type mirror with a long stem. The part# is: 91846-03B for the right side and 91848-03B for the left side, in chrome. They make black also. Page 570 , Item "C" in the 2013 H-D parts catalog.
These mirrors are identical to my stock mirrors but with a longer stem. Now i can see behind me.
Problem is, the Harley Engineers made the Road Glide but never took it on a test ride. So you have to change the windshield and mirrors because they're both ineffective.
