Union 76 100 Octane...
bike has been lightly pinging under loads, such as climbing a grade at 70 mph, and when giving it more throttle. It has been dyno tuned and I read that a small amount of pinging is normal. Well it still bugged me. Can only get 91 octane in CA, so after reading a few posts regarding blending 100 octane with 91 octane, about 1-1/2 gals per 5 gal tank, I gave it a try (supposed to get about 93.4 octane at this blend). Instant results, no pinging, even a low rpm throttle twisting.Have done about 150 miles andI am happy with the results. Costs about $3 more per tankful to fill up, as the 100 octane is currently $5.20 per gallon.

There used to be a 76 ( I think itwas a 76) on Chataqua in Pacific Paliades that sold 103 octane. Just up from the beach, orif you hung aright on 7th off of San Vicenteyou could get to it from the Brentwood area... Haven't been out that way in awhile...Maybe anubisss would know, he lives in SaMo...

The HD fuel additive takes the ping out for me, All the stealers have it. Works really good if you get stuck on the road with cheap no name gas. One 6 oz bottle is good for about 5 tank fulls, cost about 5 bucks

I never get any pinging, and you can't really get a bigger load than dragging my butt up a hill.
Maybe you are a hair lean, or ignition is too advanced?

I'd fix the cause of the ping instead of looking for a miracle in a bottle. What do you plan to do only ride where you can get 100 gas or carry around bottles of octane booster on a trip?

I was taught that using too high an octane gas could have very bad consequences for your motor. While 100 octane might not hurt, there may be warranty issues if a problem does develop.
