The paint on my old 2002 Night Train was in better shape than the paint on my wifes new Lincoln. With black especially you have to be careful. Do not just wipe dirt and crud off the bike you got to let the soap and water lift the abrasives off the paint before you wipe it clean. I speak with the experience as a former black car owner.

My vivid black is doing fine. I've done nothing special, other than keep it clean. At home I use soap and bucket wash. When I wash out, I use mild pressure at the self serve car wash.

Maybe a good wash, scratch remover, and wax would hook you up.

Try some of the Harley Scratch & Swirl treatment. In a inconspicuous place first and see how it does. I used some on a scratch on my tank and it made the scratch less noticeable, I also used a paper towel at a gas station once to soak up some overflow from the gas tank. It scratched the sh*t out of the tank. The scratch and swirl did a nice job on those scrathes. Follow by a wax job and your usually good to go.

Black colors require much more effort to keep looking good. I used to own a black F150 and I kept my buffer close by and always plugged in. Nope, no more black for me.

The paint job on my Harley is quite good in my opinion. I keep it cleaned and waxed and it looks as good as the day I bought it.

Good luck.
