Default My Opinon

Read alot of the post on here. I have been on a bike at the age of seventeen. A Yamaha 175 dirt bike. Never took a saftey course. But when I moved to Florida I had to do there drivers test. The cones were fun to go around, avoiding and brakeing all part of the test. At the time wish I had a smaller bike but it all depened on what size of bike you ride. I find on here alot about helments I dont wear one only if the state I am in requires one. Figure if I take a fatal crash dont want to live with my body gone for ever. Rather go out doing what I love. A wind shield dont really like them. But after years of rideing the bugs and small rocks hitting me and my bike I got tired of it. Especially the June bug big one that hit me and went down the back of my shirt. Funny he rode on back for over twenty miles before I got his *** off. From that day wind shield. You do loose some control over your bike as it is called airo dinamics. But now I do the speed limit hate tickets. And have better control of my bike. Hate citys great place to get killed as cars dont give a crap about a bike. There out there to kill you I think. If I were a first time rider I would recommend a saftey course. Brakeing pratice all the time. New or old rider does not matter. There are times a down shift and full throttle will save your *** you never know. In my forty years of rideing only layed a bike down once. Wont count the times I was drunk and just fell over. Dont drink and ride anymore. Best way to kill yourself. I wish all new and old riders always have a safe ride. Dont forget mirrows are there to help you, use them. No longer ride with groups or clubs. To much politics as who is the boss of the ride. Now I ride alone and do what ever the hell I want. If I want company I will get a hooker.

Yep, I hear ya. Started in '69 on a Honda CL175K3. What a pos! Wouldn't pull the hat off your head. Rode with a guy who had a Kawa 175 single cyl 2-stroke. He left me standing. They werent called "dirt bikes" then. Called "trail bikes" in them days cause you coudn't buy a true non-street legal off-road dirt bike, unless you were on a factory race team.

I always ride alone too, now. Just too ornery, opinionated, don't-give-a-crap for anyone to want to put up with me (or me with them). Like to go when I want, where I want, & come back when I want.

Good post, man. I enjoyed reading it (you sob!).

Well, there you go.

For a guy that's in his upper fifties, you should know by now that a helmet might make the difference. Not all accidents put the rider in a wheelchair. Hell, I don't care what you do man...enjoy your ride and come home safe at the end of the day.
