So I bought a helmet from HD. It was $270, a bit steep but my noggin is worth a lot more than that to me. lol
With that said, I am looking on leatherup.com for some gear and noticed they have some nice DOT helmets for around $100. Here is the one I am looking at...
I think you should go to Revzilla or You Tube and look at videos that compare the different helmets. It's a good way to quickly get up to speed with what is out there. DOT is the minimum standard.
Finding a helmet that fits your head shape should be your starting point.

There are so many opinions about helmets I have no idea which are best, or even if money is an indicator of quality. I just get DOT helmets that feel comfortable at a price I feel comfortable with (and that sure isn't over $300 on my budget). One thing I do know, even a bicycle helmet can handle the road better than your bare head. Never tested one on pavement, but scarred up a few off road, and absolutely ruined one that wasn't even DOT approved (military surplus), but I wasn't hurt with it.
Do you think it is returnable? I haven't used it at all...
You can try. Helmets are supposed to be a non-returnable item. They are made to withstand one impact. If you drop a helmet that is considered impact even if no damage shows. The dealership would have to trust you and not all will.
Do some research. Most Harley helmets are made by KBC or HJC. There are ways to figure out who made them. Then Harley puts their name on it and charges a premium.

Like Drew said, probably not. But anything you buy from a dealership, half if not more of the price, is the name on it.
What you have is probably a really nice helmet and I've seen some there I wouldn't mind having but when there's the same or similar ones from HJC, where I got mine, for half the price, I'll get them there.
And I wasn't trying to sound like an a-hole with my first post to you. I apologize if I did.

Take it from somebody that has way too many helmets. Do NOT buy without trying!!! I have even tried a couple, bought them and decided I didn't like them. In the winter I use a FF modular but in the warm weather it is a $20.00 non DOT skid lid.
Oh yeah, somebody started a helmet thread in Off Topic the other day and some dipstick went on a rant about how he was sick and tired of seeing such threads and there should be a section of the forum just for helmets. What a jackass....
