Dang! Both the MSF class and Riders Edge class are both $100 here in KY. I have considered taking both. Signing up for the Harley class in the next few weeks. They fill pretty fast so I'm looking at a late or mid June time frame.

A hundred bucks for Riders Edge? I wonder if others out there around the U.S. would say that a hundred bucks for Riders Edge is dirt cheap. Gotta wonder, just gotta! Sounds low to me, sounds like a bargain price, but then maybe I'm wrong?
Here in Ohio it's exactly the same class. Riders edge $300, or MSF $25. I took the MSF, our local dealer dropped the riders edge program and all their instructors now teach the same class for the state. They provide bikes, helmets (or you can wear your own as long as it's DOT). You wear pant's, over the ankle boots, long sleeve shirt, and have any kind of glove. Both get your license at the end, and both were limited to 10 per class. I took the MSF...kind of a no brainer at those costs. First day 4 hours classroom, then 2 8 hour days on the bikes including the license test the second riding day.

Well here in Houston the MSF class typically runs $195 for a weekend class and a little bit cheaper for weekday classes. Riders Edge is running $295. Being that there is a MSF class held at the closest local Harley dealer to me I'll probably go that route.
The MSF classes in PA are free. I've taken the classes 3 times through the years. Once originally in Florida. Then it was required in the Navy. The 3rd time here in PA. It was free and it had been several years since I had ridden. Hey, it was free the last 2 times. lol
I took the MSF course here in Vegas a few months ago and spoke with the instructor. She said she was an instructor also for Rider's Edge and that the instruction is the same...you just ride the Buells in the Rider's Edge class.

Hello baka 1969 from a fellow US Navy Vet. I sure wish the class was free here in Texas.

As far as what you'll learn in either class it doesn't matter which one you take. Riders Edge is basically MSF Harley Davidson for all intents and purposes. HD started it to allow them to market directly to the new riders. Not ******* them for that, I took the Riders Edge myself, but the extra HD marketing is the only difference between the two. Now if we were talking about the MSF Experienced Riders Course and Ride Like a Pro then there is substantial difference between the two.
The schools at the link below are not in your area but that doesn't matter one bit. You can still learn something valuable by reading what fellow riders who have been there and done that have to say about the subject. And scroll to the far right of the web page to read about other schools, methodologies, etc, etc. The difference between some schools is like the difference between night and day. Use google with the appropriate keywords to find different types of schools in your area of the U.S., also some of them can be found on Craigslist.
