As others have pointed out, same MSF curriculum, but Riders Edge is spread out over 5 days, which includes 2 full (8-10 hours) days of range time. The extra cost was worth it for me, and I get the straight MSF free through the military.
The group I was in had 3 riders pulled on the first range day because they weren't ready in the instructor's opinion. Those people were given a voucher to repeat the course again for free.
The extra practice time on someone else's bike was great!
I stopped by the dealer to look at bikes again and sit on them again. Paid attention to the controls. Sat on one bike with mid controls and another with forwards. Definitely did not feel comfortable with the forward controls on a Dyna. Might have to stick with mid controls at first them move them if I feel a need to do so. Salesperson did say that what ever you get you'll get use to them in a couple of weeks.
I had kind of the same problem. I wasn't entirely comfortable on a bike with forward controls, yet the bikes with mid controls were far too cramped. When I sat on one of the softtails with the floorboards on them that seemed to be the perfect fit for me. The heel/toe shifter took a bit of getting used to but now I absolutely love it. Try sitting on a few bikes with them, it lowers the degree of lean but for a comfort standpoint I love em.

I'm just hoping to be able to get a bike financed. Local dealer is having 0% interest for 60 months for qualified buyers for the month of May. I hope it gets extended to the end of June because that is when I get a bonus that would be used for the down payment.

Talk to them about extending it just for you, offer $500 "earnest" money to prove you're serious, and I'll bet they make the deal. I did the same thing buying a boat and it worked for me.
Dang. Wish the dealer around here had 0% financing. Do many dealers do this? Sorry for the thread hi jack. Of course I've never inquired about the rate. But never seen the 0% advertised.
Here in Ohio it's exactly the same class. Riders edge $300, or MSF $25. I took the MSF, our local dealer dropped the riders edge program and all their instructors now teach the same class for the state. They provide bikes, helmets (or you can wear your own as long as it's DOT). You wear pant's, over the ankle boots, long sleeve shirt, and have any kind of glove. Both get your license at the end, and both were limited to 10 per class. I took the MSF...kind of a no brainer at those costs. First day 4 hours classroom, then 2 8 hour days on the bikes including the license test the second riding day.
MSF in Ohio went up to $50 this year. Was $25 in the past. Still cheap.

Yeah, they are advertising it on their webpage and at the dealer.
Well I ended up signing up for the MSF class at the local Harley dealer. No one had any weekend classes available till Memorial Day Weekend so I went with the convenience factor of a 5 minute drive to the range.

I wasn't patient enought to wait for the class. Everything was booked.
Took the written at Sec of State, then 2 weeks later took a skills test on the bike for the endorsement. So far so good. Hardest part is getting off.
Of course, any knowledge is good knowledge.
