Just talking out loud....Was at a dealer this past sat with a buddy of mine who was getting 5k service done. While there was looking at bikes new and used. Saw a few that I liked. Now in the past I have never let the dealer run my credit because I knew it would not get approved . I did a lot of dumb things in my younger days That I am just starting get past now.
Anyway they had a 2007 Heritage springer in vivid black... ( I have always wanted a springer)with a 103 kit installed with 13000 miles on it. The Dyno sheet says it was putting out 114 HP and 104 TQ at the wheel... They came back and approved me. But even with my trade in the payments came back about $50 higher than I wanted.
That bike is still calling me......what to do ????
Making payments on a motorcycle is not likely to improve your financial position. But that's for you to decide.
The RWHP/TQ numbers sound a bit optimistic to me but I'm no expert. I said that to say this; if it is putting out those kind of numbers the chances of breaking something go up. Absolute power absolutely corrupts.
Ummm either try and find more reasonable financing via your bank/credit union...in any event...let your common sense be your guide. Honestly if it were me in that situation...I would probably pass until I got my credit in order but that is just me.
You can usually find a used bike through a private seller a lot cheaper than the dealership. Also, I'd make sure the kit was professionally installed including replacing the crank and flywheel to handle the increased power. Harley has really gotten cheap on the internals. They are no longer over engineeered to withstand bolt on increases in power.
Get out of the stupid dealership! Much cheaper buying from a private party. Save your money. I saved for 3 years to get my Road King. Payments are for suckers.
