Figure out what you would otherwise spend the $50 bucks on and decide what's more important to you right now.

Anyway they had a 2007 Heritage springer in vivid black... ( I have always wanted a springer)with a 103 kit installed with 13000 miles on it. The Dyno sheet says it was putting out 114 HP and 104 TQ at the wheel... They came back and approved me. But even with my trade in the payments came back about $50 higher than I wanted.

That bike is still calling me......what to do ????
If you can afford the payments, I say go for it. If you make your payments on time it will improve your credit score in the long run as long as your income to debt ratio stays higher on the income side. Work on getting the price down and you might be able to get the payment down to a reasonable amount. Establishing good credit is how you get rid of bad credit.

Tons of Bikes out there....I am on a 09 Street Glide I bought this spring....I was having chrome put on right around when the new 14's came out...Looked at them ...really love the new changes....but Mine is paid for....and it really seems to ride so much better being it is...Take your time find what you want....Payments are OK if your really want one and can afford the note...Harley is really good on reporting to the credit score folks..and can help your score as long as you pay on time....but that being said if your late or miss a payment...they are really good on reporting that also...

Somehow the place I got my bike wrangled a way to let me make payments for an new (at the time) bike. My credit over the past 5 years has gone from a pile of dog crap to 696 credit rating (I know, that's nothing to brag about, but it beats 400's and less!). Because of this, I was also able to clear up some other 'problems' and my bank now will loan me anything I want, within reason.

One *MUST* however be absolutely diligent with their payments and *never* miss one if at all possible, as that *will* make a huge difference.
Point well taken my friend, I'm glad it worked out to your advantage. But, there's a big difference between improving a your credit rating and improving your financial position. While the ability to get credit can be helpful; it is not a financial asset.

It can indirectly be a financial asset in that so many things, fairly or not, are influenced by your credit rating. It can impact how much you pay for insurance, interest on other loans, credit limits, as well as influence job opportunities.

Again, very true. I think we see each other's points. Being on the hook for a motorcycle that's financed (and the monthly expenses of insurance and maintenance) probably outweighs (at least in my opinion) the benefits. Especially, since there are other things generally more necessary, and less expensive, that can be financed to rebuild credit. It isn't the amount that rebuilds credit, it's payment history.

Without trying to sound trite; people who have a history of not paying on time or not paying at all should expect to encounter these hurdles. In most cases, it's a very telling insight to one's ability to manage resources and their ethics. The vast majority of people who file bankruptcy do things like financing non-essential items in the face of having limited cash resources and other essential items on their last leg (a 10 year old car for example).

It's like being a not so good motorcycle rider. They can go down the road, but fail to plan for the inevitable conflicts or have skills in reserve to deal with them when they arise. They can get away with it, but eventually it comes to call. In most cases, the foundation of financial insolvability can be traced back to spending or borrowing that wasn't on the top of the "you gotta have this to survive" list.
