Default Passenger peg keeps unfolding

My left side (when sitting on the bike) passenger peg keeps dropping down, Ill leave my house, get to my destination and its down. How can I "tighten" it up so it will stay up?

Mine are starting to do that. You can try to shug the bolts up, but I bet the spring clips that go between the pegs and mounts are weak-time for new clips.

How do I go about replacing the springs or clips? Should I do both? OR, do I have 1 or the other?

1. Take off bolt that holds the peg. Before you do this, note where the spring clip sits.
2. Buy new spring clip.
3. Insert bolt with new clip and tighten nut.
4. Rinse and repeat.

Or just add more bend to the old spring with a pair of pliers. Doesn't take much.

Thanks nevil!

Is the spring clip a HD part, or can I go to Ace Hardware?

mmancuso:

Can I do this w/ out removing the peg?

Those are HD parts. But like mmancuso said, all you may need to do is bend the clip out (as long as it's not too rusty). Even doing this you still have to pull the mounting bolt.

Should be pretty easy. Put some blue loctite on the bolt when you put it back together.
