Default MSF course?

I will be taking my MSF classes this upcoming weekend. Can anyone tell me what it is like. I.e how much classroom time vs range riding time?

It's a few hours of classroom which at the end of those hours, you will take a written test with a day and half to two days of range time.

It's a piece of cake. YouTube MSF and you'll see the whole thing before you go.

People that have NO BUSINESS being on bikes pass, so if you actually pay attention and give a ****, you will be the star of the class.

Good for you. The class is way more riding time than class room time. You'll show up Friday night and spend a few hours in the class room watching video and answering questions in your book. The coach will go over all of the answers after you are all done answering them and take any questions anyone might have. Ask any and all questions that pop into your head. Saturday you'll get there bright and early and start riding right away. You'll spend almost all day riding then you'll head back into the class room for some more book learning then take your written test. Sunday you'll show up bright and early again and ride some more. You'll do a few more drills then you'll take your riding test. Pay attention to what the coaches tell you. Keep your confidence up. Have fun, ride safe.

When I took the course it was two classroom sessions of about four hours each, and two days of range time of four hours each.

Are you taking the Riders Edge course at a Harley dealer or something else? Not saying one is better than the other, but you can look up the RE class outline on line. RE does a few hours in the classroom over a few evenings and two full days on the range, with the road test at the end. GREAT course.

Either way - congrats on your decision and enjoy the class. I hope you learn a lot and remember it, and you'll ride safe.

mine was a 2 day course. Saturday from 8am to 2pm was classroom with a couple 15 minute breaks. Then 4 hours on the bikes. Next morning was the written test at 8am for about 90 minutes then the rest of the day on the bikes with the riding test at about 4pm.
Bring drinks, snacks, lunch, coffee in a flask, cooler box with more drinks, change of clothes in case it rains, rain gear, gloves, riding boots, long sleeved T shirt, sun screen and hat. We were not able to leave for lunch as there was so much material and riding to cover.

For me...the first day was 7 hours of classroom and an hour on the course. The next day was just the opposite. All in all, it was pretty fun, especially the course. We mostly all had 250 Kawasaki bikes.

Thanks for the quick replies!

No it is not a Riders Edge class. A regular MSF class, but taking place at the local Harley dealer.

Have fun. We rode Buells in our RE course...outfitted for the course - rubber mounted turn signals and such. Keep your ears open and ask lots of questions. Make sure you push yourself to practice/learn everything you can on the range. That's THE place to screw up, if that's going to happen.

I took the advanced riders course. It was one day and you use your own bike. The course was done on the track. The instructor would talk about the procedure then we would practice it. At the end of the day our test was riding the whole track.
