I was washing the bike today and was wondering if there is any reason I can't remove the stickers on the right side down tube. There's a lot of good information on them, but thats why I have a owners Manuel. I was just wondering if anyone else has removed them.
I had an incident when i moved from PA to Ca concerning the lack of the manufacturer's frame sticker. My 1998 Dyna convertible had been in an accident where the frame was replaced (by Harley-Davidson) but the sticker was never put back on. When I tried to register it in CA I was given a whole bunch of crap by the CHP because it didn't have the sticker and they were refusing to register it as a Harley-Davidson. I ended up having to have the Dealer from PA who repaired the bike fax the repair order to CHP in order for them to accept it as a Harley-Davidson. All in all it was a huge pain in the ***, especially since any idiot would recognize the bike as a Harley since all the #'s matched. Maybe the CHP officer was just trying to give me a hard time, I will never know
One of the first things I did was remove the reflectors and all the factory stickers / decals. The vehicle identification number is on the decal and also stamped into the frame on the steering neck. So,......mind over matter?.............what does it matter?
Took mine off, vin # stamped on the frame and I heard their are other id # in other places on the frame. Didn't see any info on the stickers that was important or didn't already have

I think that must have been the case because that is what the VIN is for. CHP officers are not only trained in VIN ID and verification but also trained in locating hidden VINs THe DMV Verifier didn't look at any stickers when I registered my out of state bike. He matched it to the Montana title and had me read him the engine numbers.
