only thing I had stolen from me was my heart when that lovely female Iowa state trooper pulled me over for doing 88 in a 55 MPH zone..as soon as she got out of that car I had a vision of her in just her boots and gun beltneedless to say she took my breath away.[sm=Awwww.gif]and as luck would have it she let me off with a warning.[sm=hail.gif]but it is a day that is etched in my memory banks for ever and ever.

ahh yes....the untouchable angels.[sm=jawdrop.gif]

In my office building there is a free clinic and the admin office for a homeless shelter, so we have lots of riff raff hanging around. On my old bike, I had canvas bags with dual zippers. I used luggage locks as a deterrent. On my current bike, I have lockable, ridged bags, but I still don't keep anything more valuable than goggle, gloves, etc in them. If you leave your stuff unlocked here, someone WILL go through it.

Never had a problem... I think little angels watch over our bikes generally speaking cuz they're quite vulnerableyet the number of problems they have of this type is very low.

Nothing yet from my Heritage with Tour Pack. I'm sure it's just a matter of time and convenience.

A buddy had his Road King stolen out of the parking garage at the Venetian in Vegas during the Laughlin Run. They left his broken helmet lock behind. The bike next to his was stripped in place.

So much for the security cameras they make a big deal of in CSI.

I think it is biker reputation-driven. Recently, I came out of Hooters and had left my helmet on the bike. A guy in a Corvette was talking to another person and they were apparently diiscussion me leaving my helmet on the bike. When I approached my bike the vette driver asked if I was concerned about anyone stealing my helmet while I was inside. When I told him I wasn't, to which he stated "I can see why, bikers can be some badasses and I wouldn't want to **** one of by taking something of his'" I laughed to myself as he continues, "Besides, you guys rarely travel alone and you never now when another one will come riding up and catch you."

And, in over 25 + years of riding, I have never had anything taken off my bikes.

Went on vacation...nothing locks on my bike...no problems then or in the past couple of years. I do what I did in my convertibles....I rarely carry anything expensive. If I do I take it with me (like a camera or laptop). Also put every thing on bags when possible --- out of site out of mind.

I never had anything stolen but last summer I was in a Wal Mart parking lot waiting for my wife to come out of the store (we were in her mini van), when I see a real nice bagger roll up and park in the next row over. The biker gets off the bike and goes inside, a couple of minutes later I see this other guy walk over to the bike and start going through the tour pak. So I confronted the guy and asked him what he was up to. The guy ends up getting in his car and taking off, but not before I got his license number. I waited for the biker and told him about what happened and gave him the tag number from the bad guys car. Whether he followed up on it I dont know. What gets me was the biker didnt lock the tour pak or bags , he said theres no point since theres nothing valuable in there any way. I personally dont keep valuables in the bags either but I still lock them. If for no other reason than just to keep nosy f--kers outta my stuff. I dont know about you guys but if I came out and caught someone messing with my bike or going through the bags, one of us would take an a$$ whipping.

Just curious though, how do you lock a saddle bag or tour pack if not originally designed to?
