I used to use a tank bag for many years in the lovely city of Los Angeles. It stayed on my bike all the time and no one ever stole anything out of it. I used to regularly go to udesirable parts of the city and leave the bag on my bke outside. Never have ahd a problem, but as the above poster said, I am sure that someone has...
ive left my half helmet on my bike and had non-lockable saddle bags for the last 4 years. ive never had any thefts. i actually feel safer leaving my stuff when i am around other bikers and rallies than all by myself. something about respect for your fellow 2 wheelers.
Humm, well glad to see you folks have had no issues but if you leave anything unattended and unlocked don't be surprised if it gets stolen....... IMHO.

That's very true. Generally speaking, bikers don't mess with other bikers stuff. I feel much safer leaving anything in my bags at a bike rally with 1,000's ofother bikersroaming around than I would having it parked in a grocery store parking lot. My saddlebags and tour pak do not lock as well. Thus far, I've never had an issue with anything being taken. That's not to say that I don't have a few 'traps' set up; just in case.
I walked into a CompUSA store last week wearing a Harley T and the guy who rang me up asked if I had a bike? I said yes and asked if he rode in turn? He told me he had a Sporty and that just the other day someone stole his helmet that he had placed on his seat just outside the CompUSA store; parked on the sidewalk not too far from the entrance of the place. That sucks that someone would do that.
I've got a pair of saddle bags and a tour pack on the back. They don't lock. Has anybody had problems with stuff being stolen from their bags?
only thing I had stolen from me was my heart when that lovely female Iowa state trooper pulled me over for doing 88 in a 55 MPH zone..as soon as she got out of that car I had a vision of her in just her boots and gun beltneedless to say she took my breath away.[sm=Awwww.gif]and as luck would have it she let me off with a warning.[sm=hail.gif]but it is a day that is etched in my memory banks for ever and ever.

The bad part of that is how did he get home? If he lived in a helmet state like I do if someone steals your lid life sucks as you now know it. I have never had anything taken in 45 years of riding.
