Can anybody tell me if there's any major differences in hand position between ape hanger models? I've been looking at Burly and Wild 1 a lot but would like info on any brands. Is one brand more neutral than the other? I prefer the classic style apes.
Lol..... Picked mine up for 275 I believe, they usually have blems in stock but you will never be able to find an imperfection on them.
The best advice I can give for other bars is to sit on you bike and put your hands up where they are comfortable then have someone measure where they are. Or you can even mock up some pvc tubing and try different hand positions. When looking at bars look at rise and pullback but anotherimportant ffactor is hand/wrist position. Wild one has some good pics on their website to show different wrist angles ect.
I have the Burlys. The hand position on them feel natural if you laid your hands out in front of you with a bit of an angle. My 12 s sit just about shoulder height and my hands maybe 3 inches from my body where arm pit meets arms. They're comfortable and have the classic look I believe. Got them for 130

Look at the posted pullback numbers on both bars. The lower the pullback, the more "neutral".
Drag bars have zero pullback, the buckhorn style has a whole bunch.

I swallowed the price and bought carlini flying apes because nobody else seemed to make any that curve backward. Since I like the look of thicker bars kicked forward a bit and the feel of bars with comfortable pullback - it's safe to say I'm the target that they were going after. I wonder why no competitors make similar designs?
Anyway don't rule out looking at HD or Flanders bars and as others have mentioned, figure out what your ideal pullback and hand width is and then search for bars closest to that range, factor in cost and you'll have your answer.
