I wear a Fulmer modular and really like it and I do not wear prescription glasses. I seldom ride with it flipped up but it is nice to be able to do so if you want at traffic lights, etc. Mine is very well vented and quiet as can be. When this things locks shut it sounds like a bank vault. It ain't going anywhere. I did remove the flip up visor just cause I didn't like it, now I just slip on my shades and ride.
I also recommend you try on different ones. Our local motorcycle shop was having a sale and I bet I tried on ten different modulars. Some I needed a large, some medium, and some just felt better than others. I wasn't concerned about the $$ all that much but the Fulmer fit the best. I think I gave about $140 marked down from $185.
I've worn the HJC Sy Max since 2003. It fit me the best of the 7 or 8 I tried on. It is a little noisy with the face shield down so I just leave the shield in a saddle bag until I need it. The ease of removing and attaching the face shield is a plus.
I have the Harley Modular with stealth flames.
I like it, but it is a little windy on the road.
I mainly use the modular part when stopped or when putting the helmet on.
But there is a little disclaimer that it won't protect me in a crash.
That was a bit disconcerting. I assumed I had the same protection, since the chin guard hooks in with metal parts.
I'm thinking of getting a Fullface too, but for now I'll live with the modular.
I do not use a lid all that offten, but I do have a HJC CLmax and love it. It's like $199.00 and worth every penny. I got mine for $96.00 out the door from a dealer that was closeing down.
I use Fulmer Modus M1. i got a Zero Fog visor and that helps...Shoei and Nolan seems to be the best but they don't fit me right. I have the headset for music, GPS and intercom so the wind noise doesn't bother me too much.
