For my 95 softail, which has many memories ....?? 10k I think

For my 85 FXR, not a chance! That bike was my first Harley. That was my first bike on all my first trips to Sturgis, Laughlin, Reno, Hollister, etc. After a divorce, that was my first bike while starting back at the dating game, and man did I have some fun on that bike with the dating game

The FXR and I will grow older together.

I'd do it for a new price, but I ain't gone stupid with upgrades. If I don't get a dream offer, I'll ride this bike till my body quits waking up in the morning.

I know exactly what you are saying.

My bike is not worth $24k, but if someone offered be $24K cash on the spot, I would definitely take it. I think for that I can come fairly close to putting something together again that I would like just as much as this one or even like the new one a little more.

this thread turned out just like i expected.

seems there's varying opinions on what people's bikes mean to them.

for most, if they could get enough to put them on a new bike, they'd take it. these seem the be the newer, more stock bikes in the group.

for others, they'd come off their bike for a very unrealistic amount of money. meaning their bike isn't for sale but if someone was waving a big stack of cash they'd take it. these seem to be the guys who have put a bunch of work into their bikes.

then there are the guys who wouldn't sell no matter what. these are the dudes like twizt and panz who have pieces of history parked in their garages that are worth more than money.

I fall into this category. I could buy another Super Glide Custom and do all the same motor work and cosmetic modifications to it, but why? I'd redo it over again just like I have it now. I'd have to make a pretty tidy profit off my bike to make it worth my time.

i agree.

seems the more time or money someone has spent making their bike "theirs" the less likely they are or the more money it would take to get them to part with it.

$18k would ride mine away. $20k... and I'd probably deliver it.

If I "wanted" to sell it... I'd be ecstatic to get $15k.

But I don't want to sell it... which is good... because, seriously... who the fark wants to buy an orange sparkle Fat Boy?

I guess I'm one of those guys that doesn't get all sentimental and teary eyed about a machine. It can be replaced.

If some rich guy with more money than sense wants to give me a ludicrous amount of cash for either of my Harleys, then show me the green. I can build the same bike again...even better this time, have a bunch of cash left over, and the only difference will be the VIN. That's fine by me.

Some of you guys that said you would never sell...seriously, not even for a seven figure sum? I find that hard to believe.
