Sorry but still would never sell. Some things my friend are not and will never be about the money. Would the money be nice...sure; do I need it...no. I am not one of those persons "driven" by money.
It is an overused term by MoCo but that bike has always been my "freedom machine", my one way ticket out either because of my own choice (walking away from it it all) or the choices of others (i.e. coming home to an empty house and it is the only thing there because you knew something was coming, just weren' sure what or when, and made sure to lock it down before leaving for work that day).
When I came home from my war I swore that nothing could ever be that bad again and that when I rode I would always remember my friends who never got the chance to marry, have children and grow old. Every time I ride that bike it is all still there. Probably covered close to 200K on the 65 and have a lot of stories to tell.
I have owned several other pans and shovels through the years and, yes, the others have had a price because I no longer own them. Currently have three other HDs as well. Th only other one of the three that will not be sold is my 49EL that I am still working on after almost 14 years to get to stcok condition...it will go to my niece.
Sorry for the long diatribe but it is the only way that I can think to explain why some things that one owns will never be for sale (at least in my case).
that's awesome panz.
if i had a piece of history like you do, or anything at all really that had been with me as long as you've had your bike, i'm sure i wouldnt be able to, or want to, part with it either.
i feel the same way about my chevelle. frame off restored her. had my hands on every nut and bolt and did most everything but paint side by side with my dad. i can't put a price tag on that.
lol.. that's what I thought.. the XR.. not for sale, and never will be.. but the dresser.. hey enough to replace it with a new limited.. that would work..
and yea I know that's a dumb dream but hey.. whatever
seeing as how I just got my 07 street bob a month ago I'm still pretty keen on her to think about selling, I've done a few things but nothing major so if I WERE to sell it'd have to be a couple grand over what I bought her for, but she keeps me happy and I have some pretty legitimate plans for her mod wise so I'd probably just keep her.
got into a conversation with a guy the other day and he was trying to tell me my bike was for sale and i just didn't know it yet.
i told him he was probably right, but someone would have to come up and really knock me over with a crazy number.
so i got to thinking...how much would it take for you to sell your bike?
I've been offered $25,000 for mine , some things in life are not for sale the guy who was beating his lips at you just crawled outa the shallow end of the gene pool that's all .
I am kind of a horse trader, Everything's for sale cept the wife and dog. I buy and sell wheels, its my hobby not a business. My wife says I am a better buyer than seller, if I want it I buy it and when I am ready to sell I just want it gone. That being said, rather then sell, I have been doing trades. Kind of like trading Baseball cards, only bikes and cars and trucks. I always have a few bikes in the garage and I can only ride one ata time. Today I just made a deal to trade a Fat boy for a restored 1970 GMC short bed , 350 ci, So to answer the question, its not about the money, money is boring, it is about what the money will buy. I like old trucks, what can i say. The old FLHT is not for sale "today".

i'd sell it now if someone came up to me waving a lot of cash.
if i have it another couple of years, much like my chevelle or your bike or panz's bike...it'll be here forever.
