Just wondering if anyone has attended any of these. I'm planning on attending the NY State HOG Rally in July but wanted to see if it's worth it. I happen to know the area this year in Hunter Mountain and have family within 6 miles of it so I have a place to stay for free.
We have attended the AK State Ralley for a few years now. I know we are a much smaller state (pop. anyway), and ours have been pretty organized, and surprisingly tame. There are the peeps that stay up all night 'round the fire, but most are respectful of the ones who crash early.
That said, don't get caught sleepin' in either, H-D pipes x8, or 9, or more....... make a rude awakening outside yer tent/motorhome[sm=happybounce.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=escape.gif].
We have attented several State Rallys in CT,NY,MA,VT,NH,PA. They are usually well set up with plenty to do. Poker runs are the best roads in the area. Not all of them are great however they are always fun. If you can go with a group of friends and it will be more fun. Never hesitate to go alone, HOG members always will welcome you.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]
We go to a few each year in New England. Never thought there was much to do at any of em as far as the actual "event" itself, but there's plenty to do! The NY rally last year was in the same area, and actually one of our favorites. We loved riding in the area, very scenic. And we got to visit the Catskill Game Farm before they closed.........very cool. Lots of good eating places, generally friendly locals...........take a ride up Hunter Mt on the ski lift! Terrific views, and they got a carved (granite I think) statue of Rip Van Winkle up there in the woods not far from where you get off the lift! It's fun, and usually worth going in my opinion. I did like the old regional rallies they used to have back before the individual state rallies came along.
I agree the ones that I have attended seemed very well organized with plenty to offer depending on individual taste...poker/stamp rides, scenic rides, games, bands, and even some adult evening fun. IMHO it is a good time, and even better if you have a group that youenjoy riding with to o along as well.
Went to the Va in Richmond and cost $20. to get in and $20. for my S/O to join HOG and then find out the Beer tent was the best thing they had to offer. I thought I should be able to bring a friend and there sure should be a lot more to do than drink and drive. Was not impressed.
Been to NC and TN, both good. Went to Hawaii, and was blown away by the friendly people!!! Sometimes we hook up with some local chapter members. We ALWAYS meet new friends and enjoy the rides! Doing NC, VA, and the national this year.
