Tire looks to be a Goodyear Grasshopper. I have a set in my basement that were on my flathead until I went to 16" wheels. Not as many paved roads back in the day I guess.

Neat picture. I always wanted to put knobbys on my 84 Iron Head Sporty, but never did. Notice the buckhorn bars on the Knuckle Head. Those seemed to be the bars of choice on old iron up until about the 90's. Looking at old bike pics most have had buckhorns.

The Vincent Black Shadow (based on the Rapide) was actually the fastest production motorcycle in the world for many years. Vincent closed their doors in 1955 and the Black Shadow remained the fastest production bike until the Kawasaki Z-1 came out in the early seventies. If you have ever seen the famous picture of Rollie Free at Bonneville setting the LSR...



...that's a Vincent (Shadow or Lightning, I can't remember.)

Cool bikes, I'd have to pass on he knobbys, those suckers can get you puckering riding on hard top
