There's another post here that states that "... Harley's warranty system is no where near as good as the auto makers warranty system when it comes to paying dealers, mechanics and taking proper care of the customer..."
Anybody know how the MoCo warranty payment structure compares to that provided by those 3rd party extended service agreements marketed for used bikes?
Harley itself doesn't actually offer an extended warranty program. Yes you can buy one through a dealer, but the warranty provided is through an outside company and that company can vary from dealer to dealer.

and it can also vary by the amount of coverage you pay for, just like any insurance plan, pay more get more, (barring any rip off actions)
Folks, read the OP -- the question is simply how the amount HD pays dealers for warranty service compares to the amount paid by 3rd party (which means non-HD!) providers.
Who cares what HD pays the dealer. If a warranty issue comes up in the two year unlimited mile HD warranty the bike owner pays zero.
I have purchased 8 new HD's since Aug. 06. One single warranty issue. the 10 Ultra windshield developed spider cracking at the mounting point. Rode in and 20 minutes later I rode away. They brought a new shield out and put it on right in the parking lot.
I have gone with Consumers Reports view of service contracts. They are a bad investment. Will not purchase. Would have never had a claim on them anyway.
Other than the one warranty claim there has been only three recall fixes. One brake switch, one regulator replacement and one ground fix. I did have a customer satisfaction recall on the Vrod where HD replaced the stator as it "MAY" develop a weep in the future at the grommet!
The rear brake switch had not failed before replacement and that was the case with the regulator replacement also.
My HD's have always gotten me home whether from a day trip or from the Arctic Circle. They have gotten me home 100% since Aug. 06.
