Looking for some help. My 2006 fuel injected Dyna has developed a small issue. When I start it up in the morning, it'll fire right up, the rpms will be right around 1800-2000 like normal and then when they start to come down after a few seconds, it'll die unless I give it some throttle. It runs great and idles fine after that. Is it the IAC? It just started doing it and it doesn't do it every time. Like I said, it runs strong but its just a minor annoyance that I want to get rid of. Any ideas?
When I start mine cold it idles high not nearly 2000 rpms, that sounds to me a little high.
It could be the IAC needs cleaning, especially if you've never done it. An easy job that takes just a few minutes. The IAC itself may also be bad but try the simple stuff first. There's also the possibility of a hole in the fuel tank line that cuts down on the fuel pressure to the system.
Thanks for the help. I took a rag, some q tips and some rubbing alcohol and cleaned out everything. It started right up without any stumbling. Hopefully it stays like that. Looks like a dk custom outlaw air cleaner is next on the menu. I can't believe how much oily crap is blown back into the intake through the stock set up.
I was amazed at the amount of stuff that came out of mine the first time I cleaned it. I probably should have mentioned to use throttle body or carb cleaner spray, it can get all of that crap out, especially if you cycle the ignition a couple of times. Either way, glad it worked out.
