Question. Okay, this is obviously fishy for sure, but what would this scammers next move be? If you set up an account, and he puts money in there, how does he end up with the bike and his money, or what is the scam? Just wondering how it works.
They use a stolen PayPal account, they get the merchandise and PayPal takes back the money.
It's sad to think of the number of folks that have fallen for this scam
Holy hell! Do these scammers not skim through these emails before sending? The language and sheer out right blatant bullshit spewing from these types of emails is RIDICULOUS....makes me sick. Sadly there are more then a few suckers that will take it hook line and sinker.....
Sometimes they send a cashiers check and it clears the bank when you deposit it. Then 2 weeks later it gets kicked back and your responsible for the money and it's taken back out of your account.
As others have stated when selling on CL I always post this:
NO EMAILS. They will be deleted. Cash Only.
Then it never hurts to type your phone number like this:
Thanks for the advice. Yeah I sent an email back asking where he worked, and where he was at. He just sent an email explaining something with Paypal. Yeah I just didn't feel too comfortable with some "shipping company" picking up my bike. I was more worried about some guys coming over here and robbing my house while I am at work at night. What really sent the red flag was how they weren't even worried about a title. Again thanks, and I guess I should introduce myself in the other forum.
