Without tearing into the motor or any upgrades there is always the 1/4turn throttle upgrade.This depends on your motor not being so lean it will sneeze through the intake.

IMO a good tune will do it. This has been a complaint of DBW owners. I use a TTS Mastertune and I can say that throttle response is not lacking. I ended up adjusting my AE tables to finally get it to where I felt the best balance. Some guys adjust the throttle position percentages to get quicker throttle response but it it not recomended.
Even if your bike is completely stock, a GOOD tune will make a big difference.

I am assuming your 08 has throttle by wire, if it does, add the vance and hines throttle pack. I just added it and can feel a difference, feels more like a cable then fly by wire.

Get a higher flowing intake, get an exhaust, and then TUNE IT! If you really want throttle response, along with a few added ponies and the torque to go along with it, put a mild cam in it. You don't have to turn it into a race bike, but get a better cam. It won't hurt the reliability and you just may enjoy being able to merge with the traffic when you're on the entrance ramp.
