Anyone know if the 2003 FatBoy is Throttle By Wire? I just picked one up a few weeks ago super cheap and it is fuel injected but I don't think it is TBW because it has both throttle and return cables. Thanks in advance.
Yours is cable wire..a pull and safety push. You can see them just in front of throttle.. Not electrical wire which I think did not start till 2014. They went to the electricial wire so motor on throttle body can open throttle plate slightly to give the motor a little air if you snap throttle shut. This lessens polution from a too rich mixture in manifiold. Cars are the same way. With a tac, you can really see it in a car as you roll up to a light when you come off the throttle and watch tac. It jumps about 200 rpm or so and tapers back.
On a Harley, it also cut the price of the throttle body. No longer has a IAC. The motor on it also is the TPS. However, that part is not serviceable. Even more important than yours for not spraying any type of cleaner in the throttle body. It washes black crud from the backwash of the fuel injectors down the butterfly shaft or on your IAC valve and it jams up later when it dries out. Just wet a cloth and wipe crud out around butterfly ever 15-20K to maintain idle control or any throttle sticking.
