Default Sticky Throttle

First...let me say that my throttle is not sticking...it just isn't smooth. This is my first EFI bike and the throttle is not nearly as smooth as my Evo. The throttle seems to "catch" after being in one position and when I am rolling the throttle for more gas. It just seems catchy. Is there a fix for this? I changed grips but it is the same with the new as with the old.

The most likely cause is that you slid the throttle grip too far on the throttle sensor. Loosen up the screws on your switch housing and clamp, pull the grip out just a tad bit. See it that doesn't help.

I assume it has a cable and not throttle by wire. Make sure the speed lock wheel (Harley's suicide cruise control is not in) If it's just off throttle, could have a little crud buildup on the throttle body. Paper towel and carb cleaner. Don't spray, wipe to prevent harming electronics. If it's not one of those, unhook it at the throttle body and and check the cable. EFI throttle is smooth as silk if correct.

I am assuming that when you say throttle by wire you are referring to the fact that there is no cable...just the electronic stator in the handlebar. Anyhow that is what mine has. I have readjusted the grip twice with no improvement. I know that when I bought the bike a couple of months back it is a 2010 and only has 6k miles. I assume it has been like this all along. I too have wondered if it can be in the throttle body. I just hate spending money at a dealer especially when I don't know what the problem is.

I have seen grips swell and rub internally. Have seen handlebars be a bit fat right at the throttle sensor and need filing down to free up the grip movement but that was aftermarket bars.

Just tossing out a few things I've seen but they are rare. DBW bikes just have their own personalities and are very different from cable bikes.
