Be sure to search the forum for rigid mount fabrication--easily completed with hardware from the local hardware or home store.

Strapping to the swingarm wears on the paint over time, so some have opted to mount using a rigid plate fixed to the 3 existing chain/belt guard attachment points.

I'll be posting my pics and hardware soon...but many others have done this with great descriptions.

You'll also find a rigid mounting kit for sale on the web for about 100 dollars...

WARG's write up on a rigid mount. I used it as a a starting point, but went with 3 point mounting instead of his two.
Stainless hardware and chrome spacers bought at Ace Hardware.

Looked online found the bag I liked. bought leather made it myself.
ran it on the actual swing arm with leather ties and it does wear the pain off.
made a rigid mount out of an old stop sign will finish that up tonight.

I bought mine months ago and wish it was the 5" instead of the 3". Other than that, we use it almost every time we go riding...usually for my iPad. I know it really comes in handy.

I see that Bad&G customs makes the bags also mount on the struts now. I think a set of 5" like SoCalSoftailSim has would look nice in a brown tanned leather. My wallet and this forum are in constant battle.

I've been meaning to ask...SoCal, does your square bag ever drag the ground? It looks like it might, since it seems to sit a lot lower than your old one.

No Sir. I leveled it so it's just a hair above the height of the floorboards and primary at their outermost points. Don't look like it in the pic because the bike is lowered a bit.
