Default Heat guards

2011 police bike (EG Standard)
I have had the bike for 7 weeks although I ride just about every day I have not ridden any real distance alone until tonight. Just did 70 mile ride all highway. The outside temp is high but not Horrible, maintained about 80mph all the way. Got to my location and before abrupt shutdown I like to idle for 30-60 seconds, she was hot kicking into parade mode and everything, I want to wait for winter before removing the cat con and putting in the stage1 air cleaner and the computer. Don't want to loose even a day during the riding season...... Anyway my question is do the heat guards under the seat and behind the motor allow enough heat to escape??? I am no engineer but it looks to me like they trap heat rather than let it out. Most of the pre 09 EGs and RKs don't have them...

Any thoughts?????

I wouldn't worry about them. Reason they're not standard on all bikes is so HD can make more money by selling them to you as an accessory.
