You'll screw the pooch if you jam those in there , threads are US standard in the generators . Think they are 5/16" fine thread if I remember correctly .
bottom bolt buttoned up nice, but, top just gets finger tight but then just started spinning - that's how the top bolt acted before I put this new bolt in though.
I added some plumbers tape to it, and it seems to have helped.
If it turns out that the one bolt is causing the generator to pull off, I will just buy a replacement generator, I guess....

Sounds like a stripped thread to me. Are new generators expensive?

Longer bolt or helicoil if you don't want to spend the money for new , there's tons of used ones around if you want to dig just look hard at the holes for the same problem .
Don't know if there's one by you, but Sears hardware by me has a big section of nuts and bolts. Black, plated, stainless, metric, just about everything you might need. Including different grades. Worth a try if there's one around.,,

I usually hit up Ace hardware or HomeDepot for bolts and such - they generally have a ton of variety.

Heli-Coil might be the better option..... and thinking about it now, I should have some helicoils in my toolbox.... we'll see how it goes.
