It is a nice idea and I signed but I don't see it happening in Virginia. Too many 2nd grade attitudes worrying about people "cutting" in line, not fair to cars, etc. They will claim safety as the issue, but that is not the real problem.
Educate me , WHY ??? After 25 yrs of doing it legally out here and 15 hoping I didn't get busted doing everywhere else , lane splitting is the only way to roll unless you live way the hell out in the sticks .
If I tried Splitting lanes In Indiana people would be taking numbers to see who would run over me next . I live in the country way in the country The people would not take kindly to lane splitting . Also I,M in no rush .
so just because you aren't in a rush doesn't mean you have to make the rules for everyone else. you won't be forced to lane split, you can sit there in traffic if you wish, or you aren't comfortable doing it.
if this were to happen somewhere other than cali there would have to be a massive public education effort pushed out or there would be a huge increase in road rage cases.... people don't understand that it actually helps traffic flow better and would take offense to 'that damn biker cutting in front of me in line'.....

I don,t make the rules for anybody . No I would not Lane Splitting ever .
You can and I don,t really care . I would need to ride 50 miles to find a four lane road and over a hundred miles to find a City .
