You could be in an aircraft carrier, with glow in the dark paint, under a black light and if they have their head up their *** or looking down texting, they'll still hit you.

People are just on the phone or putting on makeup they don't look for us I don't think your vest will help. Just keep your eyes open and keep in mind they all want to kill you.

I'm a Marine and the Corps dictates to us what we will wear. Since they dropped their vest requirement that's plenty of evidence that the vests don't do much good. Especially since the Corps as an institution is loathe to change much of anything. The Army has also dropped their vest requirement and I doubt the other services are that far behind. These are organizations whose motorcycle safety programs are very much integrated with MSF. If the vest helped that much I'm sure the MSF guys running the BRC and other training programs would have made a huge stink about dropping the requirement. As others have said concerning emergency vehicles and construction workers it's pretty obvious that the only people who would really notice you with or without the vest are people who are looking for you anyways.

Let me tell you about hi vis vests... They suck. I have to wear one because of the military, but I've been pulled out in front of and cut off more with the damn thing than I have without it. It's almost like it's a magnet for the cagers. They see a bright color so they look toward it and swerve while looking. I absolutely hate them and can't wait for my enlistment to be up so I don't have to deal with their b/s rules and can make my own damn decisions once again!

It is really sad that driving in america today is getting worse instead of better. With all the things learned from driving cars for 100 years you would think that the "privilege" of using the roads with others would make for better drivers.Unfortunately things like not using cell phones while driving is given little more than lip service.Sure ,laws are passed aimed at texting while driving but it seems once someones gets in a car the rules are thrown out the window. And car companies are putting all this crap on dashboards to further take your concentration off the task at hand.
Cars made today protect the driver so well in the event of a crash,I think people forget they are driving a big chunk of metal down the road that can cause all sorts of mayhem. And some people figure they have insurance they don't have much to worry about.
I have to believe that in the not so distant future people are going to be opting out of riding MC's because with no one responsible for killing people on bikes you are a sitting duck to every jerk in a hurry or yappin' on their phones. All they have to say is oops I didn't see him/her.
Years ago I heard that if everyone that wanted to drive a car had to first ride a bike for a year or so prior to being allowed in a car,you would have much better drivers-But,that ain't gonna happen.
I have never seen stats on this but I have to think the number of bikes in an area like big urban centers is lower than less populated areas because of the chances of getting hurt is just too high.
In the future you really will be like some sort of gladiator going out on a bike in this mess.

What's changed in this country the last 100 years people have been driving is the HUGE portion of our population now comes direct from 3rd world **** holes with no traffic laws and they hand out drivers licenses like the prize in a cracker jacks box , everybody gets one regardless .....................

After my experience yesterday with the woman who wanted to race me to get off her merging street, I posted on FB, that I couldn't remember the last sport bike accident related to excessive speed, it's all been vehicles causing the accidents, or that deer accident, but seriously, no sport bike/speed accidents is a big improvement

I think that you and your ride could be a 1000 watts of bright/white modulation and you would still be missed by the cell phone user/texter who obviously thinks that driving and getting to your destination safely is boring.

Until one the senators/governors or upper class politicians kids or family or themselves get killed as a result of a "distracted driver" nothing will change.

The cell phone companies could put something into their system's that would dis-able the cell phone of their customers if they wanted to, say like after moving faster than 10 MPH, but unfortunately they won't until the aforementioned happens.

Folks should start suing the cell phone companies when they get hurt by a distracted driver.

Good luck with that.Although many would like to see that, these Giant corporations are making the laws in this country with their buddy buddy politicians both left and right in their pockets. It's almost comical when I hear on the news when they are cracking down on DwI all the while many many more accidents are caused by dumbfxxks on phones.
