Went for a great 290 mile ride today to the northwest GA mountains. This was a ride around Pigeon MTN. Weather was perfect.
Great tree-lined windy country roads. Although one road had about 5 serious hairpin turns as it weaved down the mountain. Almost zero traffic (once I finished the first 40 miles on 75N). Scenery was great. Unfortunately very few pull-offs to take more pics.
This ride is on P86 of "Motorcycle Adventures, Book 1"; Pigeon Mtn.
The cemetery, est. 1880, was cool; Civil War era. Ironically it offered one of the few places to pull over and "rest" once you were in the mountains!! It took me a minute to wrap my head around that situation.
The only thing that would've been great to have is an updated GPS so I could load in the route. Time to shop....Any suggestions?
Nice. Camped at the creek at base of mountain years ago and rode horses in the area. Beautiful tunnels in mountain from mining. Saw a large rattlesnake on trail as well. Brings back memories.
