Harley was way ahead of the curve on this one. 100% hands free. Now say "Bingo".
I realize it's great technology and appeals to a large segment of the riding population but........instead of "Bingo" I'm saying, OH NO!
I for one am not even close to the demographic they are trying to get into their stores anymore. Just from what I've been reading here, I don't even have a lil bit of desire to stop by and take a look at the new land yachts.
For those of you that like them and have been waiting for them to catch up with, and mimic the Japanese, I'm very happy for you. I believe I'll just continue to ride a motorcycle however.
My OL is buying a new SUV this weekend, it is the top of the line for the model she is getting and I don't think it has all the **** that Ih just described.
Why? Why? Why? I get on my bike to get away from the phone and junk. If you need me, leave me a voice mail and I'll call at the first stop.
We bitch about texting and talking cagers, and now we are one. (Yes I know, incorrect grammar. Making a point with it). How long before it's, " I was hit by a Harley rider who was texting". I see the threads coming already.
The person missed the most important feature of the integrated system. The voice activated feature. The voice activated control is the most advanced ever. All of the devices can be activated by voice command. Even text messages. The Voice recognition software changes voice to print to send text messages over the phone.
Fly along the 80 mph highways in Utah or Texas without moving your hands from the grips to send text messages or operate Navigation or tunes. BMW, Gold Wing, Indian, Victory and others can't match that.

So does that mean that we have to start wearing headsets too??
For those that don't like all of the tech that Harley is putting in the EG and want a touring bike, they still make the Road King. They also still make the Dyna and Softail. Plus there are still tons of garage queens in Batwings and Shark Noses to fill all the old farts needs for years to come.
Trust me, with as old as some of you sound, there are more used bikes out there to keep you riding for the rest of your lives. If you think the MoCo is only going to cater to a group of people that are dying off and ignore a growing market of people with disposable income, you're just crying in your sour grapes.
Surprise! They don't make Knuckles, Pans, Shovels or BT Evos anymore.
Hate to admit it but I can't work the controls I have without looking. So what's the difference? I normally do my playing with controls before getting on the road. If in an area where I need to change something, I know the two buttons to push for that. Same thing will happen with touch screen. You'll learn by feel just what to do. No biggy.
I ride with my Iphone mounted on my bars. I use it for GPS and music. When used correctly I feel it actually makes me a safer rider, especially the GPS. I know when my turn is coming so I can signal ahead of time (one example). I don't answer calls or texts, but should someone call I have the choice to pull over and call back. I have no desire to talk when riding. Oh, and my bars vibrate too much for me to text when stopped anyway.
[QUOTE=MiniWolf;11699752 but will riders sometimes be paying more attention to what's playing on the monitor or seeing who that incoming call is from?[/QUOTE]
Maybe not. A lot of people are having anxiety attacks because there are fingerprints on their TOUCH screen.

I really don't pay that much attention to mine. The voice command only works on the Ultra and Limited, no headset on the Special. It looks cool sitting still, but going down the road it's just a non-issue for me. I look at the speedo a whole lot more, since the 103 is so much smoother I find myself going 15-20mph over the limit quite often.

you still need to take your hand(s) off the controls that matter most while you're getting all touchy feely with your touch screen.
