Normally I would have said to hell with it and just go get the new bike but that interest rate is ridiculous. Have you tried shopping that around at all? Maybe with a local credit union. You low credit score is killing you, as you know, work on getting that up.
I think they are treating you good with the trade in and all but I would sure shop around for a better rate. Seems to me you should be able to get something for around 6 or maybe 6.5.
The best I could come up with was 7.5% Reading all the replies here is telling my gut to keep what I have.
At 6% maybe, at 17 no way. Unless you were dissatisfied with your current bike before you got pulled in by the 14's tractor beam, I'd stick with what you have it sounds pretty nice to me. Don't kid yourself, that 100 is going to turn into 200 for at least the first year when you want pipes and an intake and tuner and this and that and the other thing!
I actually really like what I have. And you are right that 100.00 will turn into lots more. Do they have HD anonymous ? If so I need to go....lol
Yes, your thoughts are exactly as I was thinking. I think the 14's will sell well and will really make the bottom fall out on the used ones as the market will get flooded with them. But then the 14's used probably will loose a lot the first two years as well. Very tempting to buy new but the majority here is telling us NO.....I backed out on the deal today.
Logic would say keep it. Fact is, though, buying a bike is less (if any) logic than emotion. So I say go with your gut/heart and the best financing you can find. You'll scratch that itch and build your credit score at the same time. When you get the chance, refinance at a decent rate. That's usury in this economic climate.
Yes, I'm in St Johns off of Lowe Rd about 6 miles North of town.
I'm riding Monday, Might have some guys with me. If you want to meet up at the Wheel for coffee or a bar for a beer let me know. Cant send a PM to you yet.
Gary.
You're effectively putting down more than 60% and you're getting hit with a 17% interest rate something is wrong. It's not that difficult to get less than 7% from HD credit.
I would think of holding off even though I really like the 2014's. I want to hear from owners their likes and complaints. Usually with any first generation stuff it will have problems that might take a year or two to iron out. Two to three years from now are the bikes that I'll really want.
