Anyone ever scrounge for parts or add ons at these places? I havent yet but everytime I pass one I wonder what kinda hidden treasures are in there if any at all. Worth while or waste of time?
I guess it all depends on what you want, whether you go in looking for a specific part or are willing to go on a treasure hunt. Kind of like a big boy's toy box.
I havn't been to one in quite some time, but did a lot digging in them back in the seventies. Alot depends on the yard and how much the owner wants to retail in the front. It can be a lot of fun spending the morning in one though.
Im hellbent on turning my bike into a rigid, and I would like to find a frame for cheap, spruce it up and then swap all the guts of my sporty over to it. anyways Im thinking about cruising through one this weekend. Id call and ask ahead of time but I doubt that any of those guys no what the hell they have sitting back there.
My last 2 bikes have both been built scrounging parts from litterally anywhere I could find them. The major parts, engine ,trans, and drive train parts are new.Everything else has been fun running down.Have met a lot of god people that way.You will end up with exactly what you want and save HUGE amounts of money.

Cool, so what Im thinking is possible. Ill be going to one this weekend then.
