Default 2 questions...

One for the general forum, the second for ANYONE working in shipping and logistics...

So, question 1 for the general forum. Is it possible to buy a pre '74 or post '81 bike (any HD model), with a straight frame and running engine for about 3K? I couldn't care less less about cosmetics or surface rust as it will undergo a rebuild anyway. Motor should be running, but I also fully expect some TLC will be needed for the motor anyway.
So I guess the minimum requirement would be, straight frame, running motor, clear title.

Question 2, For those working in logistics and shipping, is it possible to ship the above to Switzerland, zip code 6314 for around 700 bucks not including import duty, tax etc?

For those wondering I am looking to bring 1, maybe 2 bikes to switzerland, rebuild them over winter and sell next spring to finance my own motor cycle habit for next summer. If I can pick up a reasonable bike or 2 for around 4K each delivered, I can put another 3k into them and flip them here for around 13 to 15k each. Yes the market here is that good, and I am looking to capitalize!!
FXR's and FL's are the best, but older Irons and and almost anything will a shovel in it do really well here too.
Help me make a buck! Please!!

I would suggest looking at the insurance auction sites like copart.com. Of course, even if you buy a good salvage bike, you will still have to pay for transport from the auction site to the shipping port.

I believe that, even if a bike has a salvage title in the US, it's changed to a clean title overseas. I know of one person who sells bikes in Europe that does exactly that.

If its shipped to the EU this is possible, but not to Switzerland. A salvage title bike here will NEVER get past the Swiss version of a DOT inspection. One of the reasons why older bikes here are worth $$$, cause they haven't been crashed.

Shovels are on the rise. So you might find one that cheap, but most runners I have seen are 4k plus. Some deals are out there, friend just picked up a running '77 Superglide for $3500. You can find Ironheads for that money easy. You can get into evos for $5k. And and twinkles for under $6k. And even some late 2000s twinkies for $7k.

No clue on shipping.

Thanks harly_dude. If I go for 1 bike I can stretch the budget to 4.5K plus shipping if the shipping is less than 700 clams. Twinkies are not so popular here unless they're new, so no use going there. Irons and shovels are flavor of the month provided they're pre 74 due to the utterly ridiculous Swiss emissions and noise rules.

Krazy8s,

you'd better check for 2nd hand H-D in EU

Look here, there in the listing is a nice 1982 EG Shovel for 6000€, in Belgium:
http://hdfraussen.headoffice.be/fr/c...-docassions-50

Other EU country where you may find intersting bikes are the Netherlands and Germany, have a look at the selling sites like those:
http://www.autotrader.nl/motor/zoekr...1960-tot-1981/

have a look at
www.marktplaats.nl

or here:
http://www.oldtimers-te-koop.be/

a 1340 shovel at 5000€:
http://www.oldtimers-te-koop.be/klas...el_169085.aspx

They are out there...

I'm not understanding your year bias unless you believe all the horror stories about the AMF bullshit they all had some issues up till 1980 and the only ones I'd say avoid are the 78-79 model years they had some really weird things going on from the factory then because of the big changes a lot of mix & matched parts went out on bikes those years .
